Srixon Q STAR Golf Ball Review and Performance

Srixon Q STAR Golf Ball Review

Construction:
The Srixon Q star golf ball is a 2 piece design engineered to perform like a tour ball for slower swingers. The Q star is made of a highly resilient rabalon core and Pana-tetra thin cover.

The Q star incorporates Srixon Z STAR performance; Spin, Trajectory, Acceleration, and Responsiveness. The only difference between the popular Z star is the Q star is designed for people 10 handicap and above or swing speeds under 100 MPH. The ball is supposed to generate the right amount of spin for slower swing speeds. Players with a slower swing playing a tour ball (Pro V1's, Z-Stars, Penta, RZN etc) may generate too much side-spin, which causes unpredictable accuracy (or predictable inaccuracies).

SRIXON Q Star Distance:

Off the tee, with the Q star, I noticed consistent gains ranging between 5-7 yards. The ball is soft, durable and forgiving. The golf ball compressed well as I experienced more confidence in the ball over the course of one round.

Spin/Feel:

More check and control was noticeable right away. For a two piece ball, I was surprised how much spin and control the ball had. My wedge shots hopped and stopped with several spinning back. The Srixon Q Star golf ball was undeniably soft and very easy to control.

Putting:

Right off the putter the Q star was excellent. Soft yet solid. This is among the first Srixon golf balls I've regularly played with while normally playing the Bridgestone B330 S,RXS, e6, e5 & e7 series.

In Short:

From tee to green the Srixon Q star has everything in a ball I look for; distance, spin, durability and, most importantly, price! $25 -$30 per dozen for durability, feel and supreme performance is a tall order.

Who is the Srixon Q Star For?

Not everyone. It is engineered for players with slower swings, not necessarily with high handicaps, collectively. Although it is marketed as such. The Q Star is a tour performance ball designed for the masses! I can't say I have officially switched from Bridgestone to Srixon, however, I would not hesitate to play it and will have several on hand.
